Marlborough Primary School has received a 2019 Civic Trust Award. The 16 national award winning schemes were selected from 240 entries and are described as those which make “an outstanding contribution to the quality and appearance of the built environment. Award level schemes demonstrate excellence in architecture or design, whilst being sustainable, accessible and provide a positive civic contribution.”
The winners were announced at a ceremony held at the Imperial War Museum North in Manchester to celebrate the 60th Anniversary of the Civic Trust Awards. This is the 11th Civic Trust Award won by Dixon Jones alongside previous projects including Exhibition Road, Kings Place, the Saïd Business School and the Royal Opera House.
The judges’ comments for Marlborough Primary School said; “This building is a delight and greatly enhances the streetscape. The interior is particularly well-designed with attractive and clear signage, roof top gardens and play areas and generous assembly and dance/gym spaces. The Civic Trust Award for adds to a list of awards for the school which includes a 2018 RIBA National Award, the 2018 AJ Architecture Awards School Project of the Year, the 2018 Brick Award for Education and the Social Infrastructure Project of the Year at the 2018 British Construction Industry Awards.
