Westgate Oxford Shortlisted for RIBA South Awards 2019

Westgate Oxford has been shortlisted for the RIBA South Awards 2019.  Developed by the Westgate Oxford Alliance – a partnership between Landsec and The Crown Estate – the project was designed in collaboration with Lead Architect and Masterplanner BDP as well as Allies and Morrison, Panter Hudspith Architects and Glenn Howells Architects. Dixon Jones worked on the arcade element of the scheme linking to the historic centre of Oxford forging improved connections to Bonn Square.  The curved wall which takes the eye round the corner from Queen Street to New Road was constructed of random rubble stone, trimmed with ashlar edging, a material combination that makes reference to the local Lutyens elevation of Campion Hall. The project also won Commercial Property Project of the Year at the 2018 BCI Awards.
